To make our mundane lives more interesting, I make it a point to constantly try out new eating places. And on Sat evening, we found ourselves at Saveur. Saveur doesn't take reservations and you and your party of friends have to there before they will take you to your seats, come your turn... and oh boy, do we see some really exasperated look.
In case you think anything french is chi-chi, fret not. Saveur serves no-frills french food. Think $10 foie gras and $10 confit de carnard. The portions are small so you tend to order more than one appetiser (like us!) and you will have room for dessert. The quality of the food wasn't bad given the price range. Can't possibly expect Guy Savoy standards at $10, do you? Personally, I really like the short beef ribs and the pistachio panna cotta.
The downside is, because of the seemingly cheap menu, you tend to be more generous with your order and bill doesn't look quite small at the end of the day. So, order wisely.
Meanwhile, chill and enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
