I must admit. I am no ballet dancer but I love watching ballet with a narrative. And it had been a long time since I last catch a 'local production'. On the day of the show, I came across this review on the ST on Coppelia and it wasn't very positive. I still went to the show with an open mind.
To be frank, I am no conoisseur of the art form but I found SDT's Coppelia to be rather entertaining. Yes, in terms of technicalities, it certainly wasn't Mariinsky or Paris Opera Ballet, but for the price of the ticket and the outstanding set, I thought the performance was more than decent.
At least, I enjoyed myself. Isn't that the whole purpose? :) Have a good week ahead!
