The Cuckoo's Calling

This book came to fame and the attention of many readers in the world because it was found out that J.K Rowling was writing under the pseudonym of Robert Galbraith. She wanted the pressure to be taken off her; to help her to write freely.

The Cuckoo's Calling is a detective thriller. Unlike many of such books, one couldn't have guessed who the murderer was until the end of the book. From that perspective, the author had done well to keep her readers in suspense. Much as the story is interesting with the twists and turns, I somehow feel that there is a lack of climax to the story and the plot could get a little draggy after a while. I would also have liked it better should less vulgarities be used. It makes one wonder if the infamous 'f' word is used so indiscriminately amongst the Brits who count themselves as one of the more cultured people in the world.

It's definitely not a must-read book but it's entertaining enough if you're looking for something to read.

Selamat Hari Raya Adilfitri to my muslim friends.
