Birthday @ The Royal Mail

I haven't been updating as frequently as I wished to. With a new workplace and job scope, I simply don't have the luxury of time anymore. But I will still try to keep this space as active as I can. I often tell the hub that this space reflects how much of a life I have and if this space is quiet and empty then it simply shows that my life revolves around work and I love fun and life too much for that to happen.

So on the 2nd day of work, it was the hub's 3*th birthday and this year we celebrated the special day at The Royal Mail. The restaurant prides itself on serving authentic English food and with the good reviews from my ex-colleagues, I decided to give this place a try.

Their signature dish is their roast beef served with yorkshire pudding and mashed potatoes and peas on the side (see first photo). It was surprisingly tender and extremely filling.

I, on the other hand, had Maine Lobster. I had expected to see the lobster still intact in its shells but no, when it arrived, they were nicely de-shelled for me. I love it that it is so hassle-free and the best part was, the lobster melts in your mouth. As all chefs and foodies out there will know, lobster, like most seafood tends to get too hard and dry when it's overcooked. But the lobster at The Royal Mail is succulent and tender.

And the final surprise of the night: a complimentary birthday 'cake' from the restaurant. It is a Bananoffee - banana with on a toffee filled tart.

The service there was good and it was very quiet with very few patrons on the night we went. I like the quiet atmosphere and I am already planning to try out their Sunday brunch soon :)
